Dual energy meter board for distribution panels

A feeder-level energy monitoring board that measures two feeders from a single unit, designed to retrofit into existing distribution panels.

The challenge

Energy monitoring is usually sold at the building boundary, which tells a plant manager what was consumed but not where. Getting to feeder level means putting metering inside distribution panels that were never designed to accommodate it — space is scarce, and every additional unit adds cost and installation time.

Our approach

We designed the board to measure two feeders from a single unit, halving the number of devices a panel needs for the same coverage and, with it, the installation labour.

The form factor was set by the panel rather than the other way round, so the board retrofits into distribution boards already in service instead of requiring them to be replaced.

The outcome

Feeder-level visibility becomes affordable at the panel scale, which is where consumption can actually be attributed to a machine, a line or a zone.

The board sits alongside our solar string monitoring work as part of a broader energy monitoring capability.

The product

  • The dual energy meter board: a green PCB with two mirrored measurement sections, bulk capacitors, and pin headers along one edge for panel wiring.
Two mirrored measurement sections on one board — one per feeder.
