A wireless sensor mesh, from field device to cloud dashboard

The challenge
Facilities monitoring fails on practicalities rather than physics. Running power and data to every measurement point is rarely viable in a working warehouse, cold store or production floor, and any device needing a battery change every few months turns a monitoring saving into a maintenance burden.
The same customers also want different things measured — temperature here, door events there, air quality or occupancy elsewhere — without buying into a different system for each.
Our approach
We built one mesh architecture rather than a series of point products. Sensors join a Wirepas 2.4 GHz mesh and report on a configurable interval; a compact USB sink module bridges the mesh to a host or gateway, so adding a measurement type to a site means adding a node, not redesigning the network.
Energy budget drove the node designs. The temperature and humidity sensor, the door contact sensor and the ambient light sensor all run from a battery for years; the devices that cannot — the air quality sensor with its particulate measurement, and the people counter — take USB-C power instead, which is an honest trade rather than a compromised battery claim.
Every deployment ships with the dashboard rather than raw telemetry: live readings with min/max trend, multi-zone historical graphs, raw-data export, and configurable thresholds and alerts. Incoming data is normalised into the format the customer's operations team already works with.
The outcome
The portfolio now spans temperature and humidity, door and contact, people counting, air quality, ambient light, and the mesh gateway itself — enough to instrument a site from one system.
Because the sensors and dashboards are configurable and white-label ready, the same platform has gone into storage and warehousing, cold chain and logistics, restaurant chains, pharmaceutical, textile, healthcare, paper and pulp, and industrial energy environments.
